Our Mission
At Neptune Wildlife Tours we combine experience in customer service along with a strong background in the ecotourism industry to offer a premium guest experience. With loads of fun facts about the local marine environment, navigational skills and a good set of wildlife-spotting eyes, we strive to provide the most positive, exciting, and educational West Coast wildlife experience on Vancouver Island! Wildlife tours are the perfect vessel for us to promote our "Conservation Through Education" motto; allowing guests to experience the beauty of our wildlife, all while promoting good habits to help preserve them and their environment. We also provide educational field trips for groups such as the BC SCPA for wildlife-loving youth, and career day presentations for those interested in becoming a vessel Captain, a business owner, or joining the ecotourism industry.
"Ethics First"
We never guarantee sightings (but are very confident in our ability to locate wildlife)! To guarantee sightings means to place unnecessary pressure on the ocean and its inhabitants, which is the complete opposite of our mission. Every day we set out to promote the most responsible form of ecotourism in the area:
-
Avoiding the rush. While our vessel is capable of travelling at high speed, we set a limit to reduce the impact of our engine noise.
-
Avoiding the crowds. We do what we can to find our own wildlife away from the fleet of vessels that share our area of operation. This allows us to give animals more space to swim, hunt and have fun!
-
Using a telephoto lens on our camera allows guests to view wildlife from a respectable distance, while also providing high-quality "close-up" images thanks to the zoom!

Meet the Team

Ryan
I'm always on the lookout for fun things in nature that surround me. From wildlife, to plants, to patterns in the ocean's waves, there's always something fascinating! After obtaining my degree in Marine Biology, I earned a spot first as a Naturalist in Victoria's ecotourism industry, and from there I worked towards, and obtained a 60 Ton Master's ticket. After acquiring experience as a captain for vessels big and small, here I am now running the show at Neptune Wildlife Tours! You'll find me at the helm of every tour, always on the lookout for some cool wildlife to observe but also sharing fun facts about each organism. I've got a tremendous amount of knowledge on the local marine ecosystems and I can't wait to share it with you!

With a love for the ocean at such a young age, I was always passionate for sharing fun facts and discussing my interests- whales and dolphins.
As I grew up, my passion narrowed on to the Southern Resident Killer Whales. Once I dove into this path of sharing their stories, and how we can help this endangered species, I came to the realization that these orcas are a part of a much larger ecosystem within the Salish Sea. That all beings within our oceans are interconnected and important- from the kelp, to the salmon, to the seals and sea lions, and humpback whales!
I would love to share the beauty of this world with you on social media and in our office!
